SOUTH RIVER, NJ–In the finale of the GMC Hoops doubleheader at the 2014 Raritan Bay Summer League on Tuesday night, the South Amboy Governors took on the Jayhawks JV. After defeating the Jayhawks varsity a couple weeks earlier by the score of 56-52, Sputh Amboy trailed throughout much of this one to the Jayhawks Junior Circuit. Trailing 52-45 with under three minutes to play, the Guvs scored 7 of the next 9 points including a putback and three point play by Tim Kales and a floater off a spin move by Ryan O’Leary to pull within two at 54-52 with just over a minute to play. However, Amboy was unable to get any closer as Eric O’Keefe made two pairs of free throws with 16.5 and 5.9 seconds left to wrap up the 58-52 Jayhawks win. Below are game notes from the action.
