Monroe Falls From Ranks of Unbeaten; Spotswood Battles South Brunswick
MONROE, NJ–On Monday night, GMC Hoops traveled down to the Monroe Sports Center to take in two games from the first night of Week Seven action. Both games involved teams from the GMC. In the first contest, Monroe jumped out to an early lead only to give way to a 20-4 tear by Allentown for a 20-8 first half lead. Monroe would rally on a couple of occasions including late in the game to pull within three, but missed four three point attempts in the final 34.5 seconds and lost to the Redbirds for its first loss of the fall. Then, in the nightcap, Spotswood gave South Brunswick all it could handle, and even led by two points with about 8 minutes remaining, but the Vikings closed the game with a 13-2 tear for a 66-57 lead en route to the win.
