Behind the shooting of Tim Steward, Kean took a 35-27 lead at the half, but then fell prey to a 22-8 surge by the Ducks to start out the second half for a 49-43 lead. Hladik then hit three straight threes for a 52-50 lead.
The game went back and forth the rest of the way before Stevens was able to grab a 4 point lead in the waning seconds. Hladik hit a three at the buzzer to round out the 66-65 Stevens victory. Hladik, a high school standout at St. Peter’s Prep in Hoboken, came off the bench to score a team high 18 points while Steward added 15 including 13 in the first half, and North Brunswick’s Emanuel Omowole chipped in with 13 points, 3 rebounds, and an assist. Otis Osman lead all scorers with 19 for Stevens while Pat Sabatino chipped in with 17.
