GMC Hoops Game Notes–#4 Rutgers Prep vs. #1 Roselle Catholic–Non-Public B South Semifinals–March 9, 2015

ROSELLE, NJ–On Monday night, GMC Hoops traveled over to Roselle Catholic High School to see some non-conference action between top seeded Roselle Catholic and fourth seeded Rutgers Prep in the semifinal round of the 2015 Non-Public B South State Tournament. Led by the tandem of Matt Bullock (14 points) and Isaiah Briscoe (11 points), Roselle Catholic, which had 12 different players score, jumped out to a 19-7 first quarter lead, and extended that advantage to 37-14 at the break en route to a 70-39 victory. Levi Holmes led Rutgers Prep in defeat with 13 points. Below are game notes from the action:

First Quarter

4:00–RC jumps out to a 9-4 lead on two threes by Isaiah Briscoe and a dunk from the right wing by Pierre Sarr.

1:29 left in the first quarter and Rutgers Prep calls time with RC leading 16-4. Tahir Pretlow has two fouls for RC.

0:00–End of first quarter and RC leads 19-7 after a ft and acrobatic layup by Matt Bullock for RC and a three pointer from the right wing by Greg Smith for RP.


Second Quarter

6:02 left in the first half and RC now leads 24-7 on a three point play by Nas Reed and a baseline jumper from the right side by Chris Silva.

5:45–RC now leads 27-7 after a three by Isaiah Briscoe

4:34–RP calls full timeout with RP leading 29-8 after an earlier score by Chris Silva.

1:15 left in the first half and RC calls timeout with a 35-11 lead after two FTs by Matt Bullock and a layin by #44.

7.3–After a three pointer by Levi Holmes for RP, Isaiah Briscoe drew a foul and made both FTs for a 37-14 lead.

0.0–RP shot off the mark as time expires with RC leading 37-14 at the intermission. Briscoe has 11 points and Bullock has 7 for RC while Holmes leads RP with 7.


Third Quarter

3:21 left in the third and RC leads 52-21 after an alleyoop dunk by Chris Silva and a steal for a one handed throw down by Pierre Sarr. RC off to a 15-7 start in 2nd half.

0:00–End of third and RC leads 57-32 after RP closes frame on an 11-5 run on threes by PJ Strahm and Fred Smith.


Fourth Quarter

RC outscores RP by a margin of 13-7 in the fourth for a 70-39 win. Karl Charles hit a three and Greg Smith hit a couple of jumpers for RP.
