Former Bombers Standout to Join CACC School After Post-Graduate Year at the Robinson School

SAYREVILLE, NJ–Recently, GMC Hoops learned that former Sayreville High standout and 1,000 point scorer, Corey Taite has made his college choice.  After playing a year of post-graduate basketball at the Robinson School in Newark, New Jersey, Taite has decided to attend Goldey Beacom College in Delaware, an NCAA Division II school, and a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.  This past season, Taite contributed to a Robinson School Phoenix team that went 29-5 overall, and reached the Championship Game of the American Independent Post Grad Athletic Conference Tournament before losing to Montclare Academy of Pennsylvania.

Prior to playing at the Robinson School, Taite was a four year varsity player at Sayreville High.  Over his career, Taite scored a total of 1,176 points, which puts him seventh on the all time scoring list.  Last year, Taite helped guide Sayreville to its first ever GMC division title in boys basketball, and first GMCT Final Four appearance since 2010 before the third seeded Bombers lost to second seeded East Brunswick.  Then, in the state tournament, Sayreville reached the semifinals of the Central Jersey Group IV State Tournament before falling to Trenton.  The Bombers finished the season at 24-4 overall including an unblemished mark of 16-0 in the GMC White Division.  At one point in the season, Sayreville was 2-2 after non-conference losses to Skyland Delaware Division teams, Montgomery and Ridge.  However, Sayreville, which was also led by Rob Seraji and Holy Cross bound big man, Jehyve Floyd, won 19 games in a row.

During his senior year at Sayreville, Taite played in all 28 games for the Bombers.  He made 90 two point field goalls, 47 three pointers, and 113 foul shots for a total of 438 points, or an average of 15.6 points per game.  He also averaged 2.7 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game.  Over his career at Sayreville, Taite played in 98 games, made 258 field goals, 135 threes, and 261 free throws for his total of 1,176 points.  Over his last two seasons at Sayreville, Taite collected 91 steals, or an average of about 1.7 steals per game. Over his last three seasons at Sayreville, Taite compiled a total of 248 assists, or an average of 3.2 per game.  During his last two years with the Bombers, Taite also pulled down a total of 108 boards, or an average of two per game.  Despite his diminutive size, he grew to be 5’9″ and 155 pounds by the time he was a senior, Taite played with a heart that was much bigger.
