GMC Hoops Game Notes–Middlesex @ Timothy Christian–December 19, 2015–GMC Crossover Clash

PISCATAWAY, NJ–On Saturday afternoon, GMC Hoops traveled over to Timothy Christian to see an afternoon matinee GMC crossover game between Middlesex of the GMC Blue and Timothy Christian of the GMC Gold. Trailing 43-37 with 5:59 remaining, TCS went on a 9-1 run to take a 46-45 lead on two free throws by Josh Alcoriza with 2:46 to play, and continued to pull away, leading by as many as six in the waning moments en route to a 56-52 victory. The Tigers, which outscored the Blue Jays by a 19-9 margin in the fourth, was led by A.J. Mhya, who scored 13 of his game high 17 points in the second half including 10 in the fourth quarter. Roselle Catholic transfer, Tyler Mixson, chipped in with 14 points for the winners. Senior Ryan Coke led Middlesex with 12 while big man Jake Robel chipped in with 11, and Kyle Bogus added 10. Middlesex never led again as TCS outscored the Jays 19-9 over the final 5:59.

A.J. Mhya scored 13 of his game high 17 in the second half including 10 in the fourth quarter. Tyler Mixson finished with 14 for TCS.

Ryan Coke led Middlesex with a team high 12. Big man Jake Robel ended up with 11 while Kyle Bogus finished with 10.

TCS, which beat another Route 28 team in Dunellen last night, improves to 2-0 on the young season while Middlesex, which was playing its season opener, falls to 0-1.

Big stat of the game was at the foul line where TCS was 29 of 33 at the charity stripe. Middlesex was just 12 of 20 at the line.

Rebuilding program at TCS is off to a great start. Last season, it took 40 days for the Tigers to get their first win. The new season is not even 24 hours old and TCS already has 2.
