NORTH EDISON, NJ–On Wednesday night, GMC Hoops traveled over to J.P. Stevens High School to take in the White Division Clash between third ranked Colonia and the eighth ranked Hawks. Stevens finished the first half on an 8-2 run including a layup at the buzzer by Shivam Patel for a 24-22 lead at the intermission. After Patel opened the second half with a jumper from the right elbow for a 26-22 lead, Colonia put together a 13-0 tear that consisted of scores from Chase Barneys, Kolby Chapmann, and Mike Lacko for a 35-26 lead late in the third. The Hawks battled back with a 20-11 surge over the last 11 minutes of the second half including two threes by Mike Lionikis to force overtime with the game tied at 46-46. In the extra session, Barneys scored 6 of Colonia’s 8 points including a layup at the buzzer for a 54-49 win. Barneys finished with a game high 22 points while Chapmann chipped in with 15 for Colonia. Lionikis led JPS with 15 while Alex Corrigan chipped in with 14 and Rishav Ghosh added 10 in a losing cause. First Quarter
Colonia led 14-13 after one period. Stevens got 6 points on two threes by Alex Corrigan and 4 points on two field goals by Mike Lionikis. Shivam Patel also chipped in with 3 for the Hawks. The Patriots got 6 points from Chase Barneys and 4 from Kolby Chapmann as well as a basket by sophomore Frank Lehman to open the game and two free throws by Mike Lacko. The Hawks scored their 13 on two threes, three field goals and 1 of 3 from the line. The Pats scored their 14 points on 4 field goals, a three pointer and 3 of 4 from the charity stripe.

2:52 left in the third and Colonia is now on an 11-0 run after a Kolby Chapmann score and a basket in the paint by Mike Lacko.
