Here are highlights from the 2016 Greater Middlesex Conference Quarterfinal match-up between 2nd seeded South Brunswick and 7th seeded Old Bridge. The Vikings of SBHS broke away from a 2-2 tie with an 18-2 surge to take a 20-4 first quarter lead, and then outscored Old Bridge by a 21-13 margin in the second to take a 41-17 halftime lead en route to a 69-36 victory and the school’s first semifinals berth since 2007. Mike Ugarte led the way for the winners with 25 points including five threes while Eric Savage added 14 and Danesh Thirukmaran chipped in with 9 points on three treys. Connor Romano led Old Bridge in a losing cause with 9 points.
