GMC Hoops Highlights–February 19, 2007–New Egypt @ St. Peter’s–Farewell to Red Tile Palace

Here are highlights from the action in the non-conference clash between St. Peter’s of New Brunswick and New Egypt of the Burlington County Scholastic League in what was the next to last game ever played at the famous Red Tile Palace at St. Peter’s High School in New Brunswick.

Battling to force overtime on a score in the closing seconds by sophomore big man, Kevin Janowski, New Egypt scored off the opening tip in overtime to take a 46-44 lead. However, Travis Evans knocked down a jumper from the left side at about the 1:30 mark of the extra session, and then scored again on a floater with under a minute to go. Justin Morgan then sealed the 50-46 win with two free throws with 16.6 seconds to play.

St. Peter’s finished its final season at 15-9. Members on that squad other than Evans and Morgan included Dominic Appiah (transferred to Cardinal McCarrick), Adrian Johnston, Brandell Whitehead, and Michael Gilbert.
