GMC Hoops Game Notes–J.P. Stevens vs. A.L. Johnson–Rahway Summer League–July 5, 2016

RAHWAY, NJ–In the first game of the GMC Hoops doubleheader at the 2016 Rahway Summer League, the site saw the J.P. Stevens Hawks take on the Crusaders of A.L. Johnson Regional of Clark during the 7:30 PM hour.

After both teams went back and forth for the first 14 or so minutes of the game, Stevens ended the first half on a 14-2 tear as point guard, Tyrese Conover and forward Rishav Ghosh spearheaded the charge to a 26-14 halftime lead.

Johnson Regional rallied for a good portion of the second half with a 20-12 surge to close the gap to four at 38-34 with 9:35 remaining, but couldn’t get closer as the Hawks closed the game on a 15-6 spurt that included a layup and two free throws by Conover for the 53-40 victory. First Half

19:20–JPS–Tyrese Conover scores on a floater off a nifty move for a 2-0 lead.

16:27–JPS–Javon Scott fouled and makes 1 of 2 FTs to end a 4-0 ALJ run for a 4-3 ALJ lead.

15:33–ALJ–fouled and makes both FTs for a 6-3 lead.

14:12–JPS–Rishav Ghosh scores on putback for a 6-5 ALJ lead.

13:50–JPS–Ghosh–putback for a 7-6 lead.

17:28–JPS–Ghosh fouled and makes both FTs after an ALJ score for a 28-18 lead.

16:30–JPS–goes up 32-21 after two scores by Ghosh including a breakaway layup and a score from the right low block.

14:25–JPS–Ghosh draws charge.

13:37–JPS–gets offensive rebound and draws fouled and then makes both FTs for a 36-25 lead.

12:11–JPS–timeout after a 5-0 ALJ run including a three closes the gap to 36-30.

11:46–JPS–Ghosh sinks jumper from left side for a 38-30 lead.

9:35–ALJ–two scores closes the gap to 38-34.

7:49–JPS–sinks jumper from left side for a 40-34 lead.
