SOUTH AMBOY, NJ–On Thursday evening, GMC Hoops traveled over to South Amboy Middle-High School to take in some of the action at the 2016 Raritan Bay Summer League. One of the games featured a team from the GMC as South Amboy, playing without four of its starters, took on the Academy of Urban Leadership from Perth Amboy.
The game started out back and forth with the Jaguars taking a 5-0 lead only to have the Guvs respond with a 9-2 spurt for a 9-7 lead. Then, AUL took control of the game for good with a 14-0 run to take a 21-9 lead. South Amboy did manage to get within single digits late in the first half, and early in the second half, but the Jaguars of AUL eventually put the game out of reach with a 17-7 tear for a 46-28 lead, and went on to win 53-39. First Half

5:10–AUL–now leads 21-11 after a layup off a drive down the lane by SA that ended a 14-0 AUL run.
4:54–AUL–timeout with a 21-11 lead.
1:15–SA–defense trying to step it up a notch, but AUL leads 26-16 after both teams get a three pointer and a layup.
43.5–AUL–timeout–after drawing a foul and missing the first FT. Following the timeout, the Jaguars make the second FT for a 27-16 lead.
15.0–SA–layup off a drive from the right baseline for a 27-18 AUL lead.
0.0–AUL still leads 27-18 at the intermission.
Second Half
10:55–SA–caps an 18-9 surge with a score that closes the gap to 36-26.
10:13–SA–timeout–AUL–just scored a layup from the right wing to go up 38-26.
6:57–AUL–on a 12-2 run including a couple of three pointers for a 46-28 lead. Jaguars really dominating the offensive glass.
5:05–AUL–timeout–SA–7-1 run that includes a three pointer from the right wing, and two layups to narrow the deficit to 47-35.
1:00–AUL–goes on a 6-1 run on a putback and a couple layups for a 53-36 lead.
0:00–AUL–wins the game 53-39 after SA makes a three pointer from the left wing with time running out.
