Falcons Defeat Freehold Township for League Title

MONROE, NJ–This past Thursday night, Monroe completed a great run to end the season at the 2016 Monroe Sports Center Summer League with a 55-46 win over Freehold Township in the Championship Game.

The Falcons started the summer at 0-2 with losses to Ranney on June 22nd and Lakewood on June 23rd, but then reeled off six straight wins to end the regular season tied with Freehold Township for first place, and then won both of its playoff games including a 65-48 victory over South River in the opening round. The Purple Birds finished 8-2 overall on the summer at MSC.

Monroe is moving up to the GMC Red after finishing the season with 7 wins in its last 11 games. Monroe has a very talented incoming junior class led by the likes of Luke Patel and Matt Hoyt, and it also has incoming sophomore sharpshooter, Mike Kides. The Falcons also bring up a good deal of talent including Hassan Reid and Jackson Maddox from a JV team that lost to eventual champion, North Brunswick in the 2016 East Brunswick JV Tournament Semifinals back in February.
