New Coaches Around the GMC

After A Relatively Quiet Offseason in 2015, the Coaching Carousel Picks Up Again in Middlesex County

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ–It has been a busy offseason around the Greater Middlesex Conference starting with the departure of long time Bishop Ahr head coach, Dennis O’Keefe at the end of this past season, and continued with the recent departure of Timothy Christian head coach, Chris Hobbs. There continues to be a lot of movement on the coaching carousel including a number of former GMC standouts taking over varsity programs. Below is the list of new coaches we have so far:

  • D.J. Griffin–Bishop Ahr
  • Darius Griffin–Piscataway
  • Samir Sanu–New Brunswick
  • Brandon Hall–Colonia
  • Sebastian de Voogd–J.F. Kennedy

NOTE: Still waiting on info for the new Timothy Christian coach. Darius Griffin is a former standout at Rutgers, who played with the likes of Roy Hinson and Rich Brunson (women’s hoops coach at Brookdale Community College). D.J. Griffin is the son of Darius Griffin, and a former standout a Bishop Ahr. Samir Sanu is a former standout at Sayreville, who also served as head coach at New Brunswick Middle School and JV head coach at New Brunswick HS. Brandon Hall is a former standout at Colonia, and recently served as an assistant at Woodbridge. Sebastian de Voogd played at Monroe.
