Here are highlights from the action in Perth Amboy’s win over Jackson Memorial on the final day of week two at the 2016 Monroe Sports Center Fall League.
Led by Fres Cabrera, Amboy turned a 23-19 deficit into a 53-36 lead with a 34-17 surge over a span of about 18 minutes. Amboy went on to win, 59-43. Cabrera had several transition baskets including a breakaway dunk as well as a couple of assists to key the surge.
Perth Amboy had jumped out to a 15-9 lead early on in the first half before, Jackson Memorial put together a 14-4 tear for the 23-19 advantage with a couple minutes to play in the first half. The Panthers then responded with a 12-2 spurt to take a 31-25 lead before the Jaguars netted two foul shots before the half.
Amboy then opened up the second half on an 8-4 run to take a 39-29 lead with 13:30 to go in the game. Then, the Panthers put together a 14-7 spurt including about 8 points from Cabrera, a score from Luis Bonilla, and a putback by Adam Gornowicz for the 53-36 lead with about four minutes to play.
