GMC Hoops Game Notes–Middlesex vs. Immaculata–Immaculata Fall League–October 23, 2016

BRANCHBURG, NJ–In the nightcap game of Week 6 action at the 2016 Immaculata Fall League, Middlesex of the Greater Middlesex Conference’s Blue Division took on Immaculata. For much of the first half, the Blue Jays hung with the Spartans in a blitz of three pointers.

However, Immaculata put together a pivotal 17-4 year over a span of 9:59 that began towards the end of the first half and carried over into the second half that turned a 35-32 Spartan lead with three minutes left in the first half into a 52-36 advantage at the 13 minute mark of the second.

From there, the Spartans cruised to a 63-46 victory. Chris Hendricks and Chris Spencer were bright spots in defeat for the Jays. Below are game notes from the action:

First Half

10:51–MID–Spencer caps a 5-0 run with another trey for a 16-15 IMMAC lead.

9:44–IMMAC–increases lead to three at 24-21 during an exchange of treys by both teams. Hendricks knocked down a trey for MID.

8:00–MID–creeps closer with two FTs by Kareem for a 24-23 IMMAC lead.

3:50–IMMAC–increases lead to 33-25 with a 9-2 spurt that included a layup, two FTs, and a jumper.

3:03–IMMAC–timeout–follows a 7-2 MID run capped by a Nick Montajes layup for a 35-32 IMMAC lead.

0:00–IMMAC–closes the half on a 9-2 tear that included three layups and a three from the right wing for a 44-34 lead at the break.


Second Half

13:04–IMMAC–opens 2nd half by scoring 8 of the first 10 points for a 52-36 lead.

10:03–MID–goes on a 5-0 run including two FTs and a three point play that closes the gap to 52-41.

8:26–MID–Hendricks fouled and makes 1 of 2 FTs to end 4-0 IMMAC run for a 56-42 IMMAC lead.

7:22–IMMAC–timeout.

4:26–MID–scores 4 of next 6 points including a baseline jumper from the left side by Jake Robel for a 58-46 IMMAC lead.

1:00–IMMAC–scores last five points of the game including a jumper and several free throws for a 63-46 lead.
