GMC Hoops Highlights–November 19, 2016–King’s College (NY) @ College of St. Elizabeth–D3 Hoops

Here are highlights from the action in the NCAA Division 3 college hoops contest between King’s College of New York and the College of St. Elizabeth in the first ever men’s basketball game in the history of CSE in Morristown.

Behind a putback and a transition layup from former GMC standout, Jason Saldiveri, the College of St. Elizabeth jumped out to a 6-0 lead. King’s College rallied back with a 12-3 spurt that included a three pointer and a floater for a 12-9 lead.

The Screaming Eagles of CSE took the lead for good with a 14-0 spurt that included a transition layup and a three pointer from Saldiveri for a 23-12 lead. From there, the College of St. Elizabeth led by as many as 22 in the second half thanks in part to 7 points from former Spotswood standout, Marlon Hart, before winning the game, 80-65.

Saldiveri ended up with 19 points on 6 of 13 shooting from the floor and a perfect 6 of 6 from the line in 23 minutes. Jordan Simmons chipped in with 14 points on 6 of 9 shooting in 19 minutes while Hart added 12 points on 4 of 10 shooting from the floor, and 3 of 4 from the line in 27 minutes.

Coaching the College of St. Elizabeth was former Kean University assistant coach, and East Brunswick graduate, Tom Wagenblast. Former Carteret hoops standout, Xavier Fuller is also on the staff as an assistant coach.
