Perth Amboy Tech Rolls Past South Amboy in Season Opener, 75-49

Patriots First Quarter Surge Leads to Victory

PERTH AMBOY, NJ–In a GMC Gold Division clash, Perth Amboy Tech opened up the season in a huge way by defeating South Amboy, 75-49. The Patriots, which outscored South Amboy in each of the first three periods, opened the contest with a 28-11 surge and never looked back.

Leading 44-24 at the half, Amboy Tech then finished off the win with a 21-9 showing in the third for a commanding 65-33 lead. Seven different players scored for the Patriots including three that scored in double figures. Senior guard, Kyle Gregory, who connected on five threes, led the way for the winners with a game high 17 points.

Miguel Hernandez chipped in with 16 points including four threes while Javon Fisher added 14 points including four treys. Perth Amboy Tech connected on 15 threes, and outscored South Amboy by a 45-12 margin from beyond the arc. Alan Kazar was a bright spot in defeat for the Guvs with 16 points.

With the victory, Perth Amboy Tech opens the season at 1-0 both overall and in divisional play while South Amboy falls to 0-1 overall and in the GMC Gold. Amboy Tech next game is on Monday, December 19th when it hosts Timothy Christian in a key early season Gold Division showdown.

Meanwhile, South Amboy faces Calvary Christian in the nightcap game of the Friends of South Amboy Benefit Showcase at 8:00 PM on Saturday night, and then hosts East Brunswick Tech on Monday evening.
