Trailing 19-15 midway through the second quarter, Dunellen embarked on a decisive 24-3 surge over about a 10 minute span for a 39-22 lead. Hopatcong tried to rally with 7 of the last 9 points of the third, and the first points of the fourth to pull within eight, but couldn’t get any closer as Dunellen won 47-37.
Leading the way for the Destroyers in the victory was freshman, Tyje’ Kelton, who collected a double-double of a game high 21 points and 10 rebounds. Angel Suarez chipped in with 12 points. Ben Bibeault led the Chiefs in a losing cause with 12 points.
