Carteret Rebounds With Consolation Win Over Tottenville, 66-52

Jordan and Daniels-Porter Lead Way With Huge Performances

MATAWAN, NJ–After losing by single digits to the host school, Matawan in the opening round of the 2016 Matawan Huskies Classic on Tuesday, Carteret was looking to rebound against Tottenville of Staten Island. Jemar Jordan and Isaiah Daniels-Porter made sure that the Ramblers came out of this one with the win.

Jordan, a senior forward, tallied a game high 25 points along with 8 blocked shots, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals while Daniels-Porter collected a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Carteret to a 66-52 victory over Tottenville. Nasseir Moore chipped in with 7 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal.

Carteret jumped out to a 21-8 first quarter lead, and outscored Tottenville in three of the four periods. Trailing 38-24 at the half, Tottenville put together an 18-10 run in the third that narrowed the deficit to 48-42 going into the fourth, but the Staten Island school wasn’t able to get any closer.

For the game, the Ramblers tallied its 66 points on 26 field goals, 3 treys, and 5 made free throws. Carteret also collected 24 rebounds, 20 assists, 14 blocks, and 11 steals. With the victory, Carteret improved to 5-1 overall on the season, and will take on Manalapan in the 5th Place Consolation game on Friday at 1:45 PM.

This will be the third straight year that Carteret is playing Manalapan in the Matawan Huskies Classic. The Braves have won the previous two meetings that were both played in the first round. Two years ago, Manalapan edged Carteret 43-42, and last year, the Braves defeated the Ramblers, 55-48.
