GMC Hoops Highilghts–January 21, 2017–New Brunswick @ South River–Crossover Clash

Here are highlights from the action in South River’s win over New Brunswick in a GMC Crossover contest in South River.

GMC Hoops traveled over to South River High School for a matinee GMC crossover clash between the hometown Rams of the Blue Division, and New Brunswick of the GMC White.

In a game that was fast paced and a bit sloppy early on, the New Brunswick Zebras scored 8 of the first 11 points, and led 31-21 with under three minutes to go in the first half. South River then turned the tables with a 46-10 surge over a span of 14:08 to take a commanding 66-41 lead.

From there, the Rams cruised to a 74-58 victory. New Brunswick finished the game on a 17-8 run that included three pointers by Ahyan Brown-Miller, Jody Harris, and Jordan Harris. Derrick Whitaker led South River with a game high 29 points while teammate Mike DeSantis chipped in with 16 including 11 in the third quarter.

Jody Harris led New Brunswick in defeat with 16 points including 10 in the second half. Curtis Revan chipped in with 10 points. South River, which has now won three straight games, improved to 6-8 overall on the season including a 4-6 record in conference play.

Meanwhile, New Brunswick, which has now lost five in a row, dropped to 2-11 overall including a 2-10 mark in the GMC.
