Carteret Pulls Away From Middlesex in 4th, 51-46

Ramblers With Seventh Straight Behind Daniels-Porter

MIDDLESEX, NJ–Since the first time that the Middlesex Blue Jays and Carteret Ramblers met back in December, the Jays have been playing better. Wednesday night’s rematch with Carteret was proof of that.

Bolstered by their passionate student section, Middlesex managed to overcome an 11-9 first quarter deficit by staying within two at the half (22-20), and tying the game after three periods (36-36). In the end though, Carteret would find a way to win to stay hot.

Led by the efforts of forward, Isaiah Daniels-Porter, who scored a game high 23 points, the Ramblers were able to outscored Middlesex by a 15-10 margin in the fourth to post a hard fought, 51-46 win.

Daniels-Porter also collected 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal while Kahir Raymond chipped in with 12 points, 6 steals, and 3 rebounds. Jemar Jordan added 6 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, a block, and a steal.

Middlesex was led by junior guard, Tyler Ha, who scored a team high 18 points while Jake Robel added 8 points and Chris Hendricks, John Dickey, and Kareem Aref each chipped in with 6 points. Both teams had six different players score in the contest.

As a team, Carteret collected 31 rebounds, 13 steals, 11 assists, and 3 blocked shots. The Ramblers won the first and fourth quarters by a combined margin of 26-19 while Middlesex won the third quarter (16-14) and the second quarter was tied (11-11).

With the victory, Carteret won its seventh straight game of the season, and improved to 15-2 overall including a 9-0 mark in the GMC Blue. Meanwhile, Middlesex, which lost its third straight, dropped to .500 at 7-7 overall including a 4-5 mark in divisional play.

Carteret returns to action on Friday with the Ramblers visiting Bishop Ahr in a key Blue Division showdown at 7:00 PM while Middlesex will play neighborhood rival, Dunellen at home on Monday night, January 30th at 7:00 PM.
