Carteret Rolls Past South River, 57-41

Ramblers Sweep Season Series from Rams

CARTERET, NJ–The Carteret Ramblers got back on the winning track on Monday night with a 57-41 victory over South River in a GMC Blue Division clash at Carteret High School.

Nine different players scored for the Ramblers led by Kahir Raymond, who had a team high 13 points along with 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Teammate, Jemar Jordan chipped in with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 blocks, and 2 assists. Isaiah Daniels-Porter added 8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.

Judah Pascal also contributed with 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Jalen Harris (5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and a block) and Chris Sykes-Cofield (5 points and 4 rebounds) each had 5.

Nasseir Moore (3 points, 5 rebounds, and an assist) and James Hart (3 points and a rebound) each had 3 points while football standout Angelo Golino rounded out the scoring with 2 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists).

Zemar Brake was the only Carteret player that didn’t score, but he still managed to provide a significant contribution with 7 rebounds and an assist. As a team, Carteret collected 50 rebounds, 16 assists, 11 steals, and 4 blocks.

Sophomore Derrick Whitaker led South River with a game high 29 points on 8 field goals, 2 three pointers, and 7 foul shots. Zac Rafano chipped in with 5 points in a losing cause for the Rams, which only had five different players score.

South River had a 15-9 advantage in points scored form beyond the arc, but Carteret was able to counter that with a 44-18 edge in points scored from within the arc. South River had more made free throws (8-4).

With the victory, Carteret, which had lost 3 of its previous 4 games, improved to 17-5 overall including an 11-1 mark in the GMC Blue Division. Meanwhile, South River dropped to 7-12 overall including a 4-8 mark in divisional play.

Both teams will return to action later in the week with Carteret hosting South Brunswick in a battle of two Top Ten teams on Friday at 5:30 in Carteret while South River has a non-conference game against Keansburg on Wednesday at 5:30 PM, and then a GMC Crossover on the road against Piscataway Tech on Thursday at 5:30 PM.
