GMC Hoops Highlights–March 11, 2017–Hudson Catholic vs. Patrick School–Non-Public B State Final

Here are highlights from the action in the Patrick School’s win over Hudson Catholic in the 2017 Non-Public B State Championship at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River.

Patrick School jumped out to a 10-0 lead that included two threes from Edison native Jamir Harris only to have Hudson Catholic answer with an 11-0 run including a three by Louis King to take the lead. The Celtics responded though by scoring 10 of the last 12 points of the first period including a steal for a layup by Jordan Walker for a 21-13 lead heading into the second.

Patrick School was able to build a double digit lead in the second half before Hudson Catholic responded with a rally that included a three point play by Jahvon Quinerly to pull the Hawks within nine. However, Hudson Catholic wasn’t able to get any closer en route to a 65-48 victory.

Harris finished with a game high 23 points including 7 threes while Walker added a double-double including 15 points and 12 assists. Big man Nicholas Richards chipped in with 12 points including a dunk, and 6 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Quinerly led Hudson Catholic with 21 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. Louis King chipped in with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Luther Muhammad added 10 points. Patrick School improved to 27-4 overall on the season and advanced to the 2017 Tournament of Champions, where it will likely be the top seed.

Hudson Catholic, which defeated St. Anthony’s in the Non-Public B North Championship at Rutgers (64-61), finished its season at 26-4.
