2021-22 GMC Hoops Pre-Season Top 10

It is opening day of the 2021-22 Greater Middlesex Conference boys basketball season. Here is how GMC Hoops sees the pre-season top ten:

Last year’s records in parenthesis

  1. St. Thomas Aquinas (9-5) – Returns Jaquan Harris, Samad Abullah, Adam Silas, and Jaden Kelly and adds transfers Terrell Pitts and Jalen Pichardo.
  2. St. Joseph’s (11-4) – Ethan Simmon, Amari Campbell, Josh Ingram, and Anthony Williams return along with Immaculata transfer Darren Tuck.
  3. Colonia (11-4) – Billy Anderson, Saivon Pressley, Mike Howell, Tymihr Van Kline, and Matt Scherb return.
  4. South Brunswick (10-4) – Vikings played well at Bridgewater and Wall Twp Summer Leagues – Have Yathin Vemula, Damien Downes, Shyheim Davis, Saumit Kale, Harmehar Chhabra, and Kalani Antoine returning.
  5. Edison (6-6) – Eagles went 20-3 over the summer in EB Team and Rahway Summer League – Have Niko Barnes, Elisha White, Joe Greer, and Brian Hopson returning.
  6. South Plainfield (11-4) – Tigers handed Edison two of its three losses during summer and won Rahway Summer League title. Have Brandon Dean, Jalen Russell, Joe Oduro, and Anthony Nigro returning.
  7. Monroe (5-8) – Won Bound Brook Summer League, and have Jonathan Okocha, Elijah Okocha, and Josh Okocha returning along with Ryan Zurawecki.
  8. South River (9-6) – Added St. Thomas Aquinas transfer Roman Santos to an already talented lineup led by Lazaro Rodriguez, Jeremy Grospe, Kobe Taylor, Darren Barbiero, and Jared Grospe.
  9. Piscataway (1-9) – Chiefs took some lumps last year, but have the likes of Aaren Ausitn, Jalen Thomas, and Jonathan Carman returning along with some good newcomers.
  10. Old Bridge (4-8) – Played at the Hamilton Park Summer League, Bloomfield and Linden Fall Leagues as well as Middlesex JV Summer League. Have the likes of Jaden St. Rose, Ryan Witte, Miles Sala, Nate Johnson, Adam Scire, Brady Cavallaro, and a talented group of freshman coming up.
