Girls Game Set for 6:00 PM Followed by Boys Game at 7:30 PM at Woodbridge HS
WOODBRIDGE, NJ—On Tuesday night, GMC Hoops will travel out to Woodbridge High School to cover the 2022 GMCBCA Senior All-Star Games. These games will mark the first time the Senior All-Star Games will be played in three years. The last time the GMCBCA Senior All-Star Games took place was in March 2019 at Middlesex County College.
The games didn’t take place in each of the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The games also return to Woodbridge High School, which last hosted the games in March 2018. Tonight’s games will begin with the Senior Girls All-Star Game at 6:00 PM followed by the Senior Boys All-Star Game, which will take place at 7:30 PM.
Some of the players competing in the Girls Senior All-Star Game include: Allison Clarke of Spotswood, Carly Pichalski of Metuchen, Sam Lederman of East Brunswick and Payton Alcorn of Old Bridge.
Some of the players competing in the Boys Senior All-Star Game include: Max Negron of Sayreville, Aaren Austin of Piscataway, Josiah Brown of New Brunswick, Nick Helinski of Woodbridge, Yathin Vemula of South Brunswick, Roman Carone of Spotswood, Niko Barnes of Edison, Anthony Vella of South Amboy, Dominic Schiappa of Metuchen, Gian Wagner of Timothy Christian, Juan Hernandez of East Brunswick Tech.
NOTE: Unfortunately, GMC Hoops didn’t receive a complete list of players for the two games. So, we have just posted the names of players that were announced to be playing in the games via social media.
Proceeds from Tuesday night’s games will benefit Carteret boys hoops standout, Aiden Ramirez, who is battling cancer. Ramirez, who saw limited varsity action for the Ramblers in 2018-19, was a key contributor to Carteret’s 2019-20 team that finished 2nd in the GMC Blue, reached the 2020 GMCT Quarterfinals, and the 2020 NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2 Group 3 Quarterfinals.
As a sophomore, Ramirez made 89 total field goals including 37 from three point range, and 40 free throws for 255 points or an average of 9.1 points per game while collecting 77 rebounds, 52 assists, and 35 steals, or an average of 2.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per contest in 28 games. Carteret finished 20-8 overall and 10-2 in the GMC Blue, and ended up 6th in the final 2020 GMC Hoops Top Ten.
