2022-23 GMC Hoops Top Ten – February 18, 2023

South Brunswick’s Harmehar Chhabra averaged 11.8 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 6.5 apg, and 1.5 bpg during the 2023 GMCT to earn a spot on the All Tournament Team. Chhabra and teammate Kalani Antoine helped the Vikings reached the Championship Game for the third time in 8 years, and as a result, SBHS moved up to No. 2 in the latest GMC Hoops Top Ten.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The 2022-23 GMC boys basketball season is now entering its final phase with the state tournaments starting up this week. The 2023 GMCT concluded Friday night with St. Thomas Aquinas pulling off the three-peat by defeating 7th seeded South Brunswick in the final.

South Brunswick’s run in this year’s GMCT caused a significant shake-up to the latest GMC Hoops Top Ten. Spotswood also moved back up to 9th thanks to its performance in a 75-72 loss at 4th seeded St. Joseph’s in the tourney’s first round.

South River, which lost to South Brunswick in the GMCT Semifinals, went down a notch to 3rd. Colonia drops to 5th while South Plainfield slips to 6th and North Brunswick falls to 7th. Old Bridge remains in the Top Ten with another solid performance against North Brunswick in the first round and a buzzer beating win over Woodbridge (71-68) Current records in parenthesis.
