GMC Hoops Play-By-Play–East Brunswick vs. North Brunswick–Brunswick Classic–Opening Round–December 27, 2011

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ–For the first time in the three years of the Brunswick Classic varsity tournament, there will be a new champion. The second ranked and two time defending holiday tourney champion, East Brunswick fell to sixth ranked North Brunswick by the score of 66-59. The Raiders held a tenuous one point, 47-46 lead after Rob Ukawuba connected on a three from the left wing at the buzzer to end the third, but pulled away in the fourth with a 15-3 tear to take a 62-49 lead. Dion Rogers, Chance Gadsden, and Iverson Fleming led the way for North Brunswick, which will be playing in the final for the second straight year. Below is the play-by-play from the game.

First Quarter

7:30–NBT–#12 scores inside for a 2-0 lead.
7:00–NBT–Rogers hits shot for a 4-0 lead.
6:30–EB–Rob Ukawuba connects for three from right wing for a 4-3 NBT lead.

4:03–NBT–Rogers steal and assist on layup by Fleming for a 21-20 lead.

2:51–EB–Summerer makes a nice move on Gadsden for a layup, and a 42-39 NBT lead.
2:21–NBT–Rogers steals ball from Ross, and goes in for nifty layup and a 44-39 lead.
1:39–NBT–Gadsden steals ball from Amir Bell, and goes in for dunk when he is fouled by Ukawuba–makes 1 of 2 FTs for a 45-39 lead.
1:30–EB–Ross drives in from right side and banks in floater for a 45-41 NBT lead.
1:18–NBT–backcourt violation.
1:04–EB–Ukawuba draws foul, and makes both FTs for a 45-43 NBT lead.
8.3–NBT–Raiders cash in on several offensive rebounds as Gadsden scores on a putback for a 47-43 lead.
0.0–EB–Ukawuba connects for his second three of the game from the left wing as time runs out for a 47-46 NBT lead.
