GMC Hoops Game Notes–December 9, 2015–Calvary Christian vs. Timothy Christian–Scrimmage

Tigers Overcome Tough Opening Quarter With Solid Efforts in Last Two Periods

PISCATAWAY, NJ–On Wednesday evening, GMC Hoops saw three quarters of action from the varsity scrimmage between Calvary Christian of Old Bridge and Timothy Christian. Playing without two of its top players, Timothy Christian had a tough start as Calvary Christian scored the last 13 points of the opening period for a 15-2 edge in the period. TCS battled Calvary Christian to a 4-4 tie in the second thanks to a last second jumper by Josh Alcoriza. Then, the Tigers won more of a back and forth battle in the third with a 9-7 edge. Lucas Page had a bucket in the frame to help TCS get the edge in the quarter. Below are game notes from the three quarters of action:

First Quarter

4:41–CC–off-balanced basket and the foul for a three point play for a 10-2 lead.

2:21–CC–hits jumper from left side for a 12-2 lead.

1:24–CC–hits three from left wing for a 15-2 lead.

Calvary Christian scored the last 13 points of the period after TCS tied the game at 2-2.


Second Quarter

Both teams combine for just 8 points in a 4-4 tie in the period. All scoring came in the final 2:36 of the period. TCS hit a jumper from the right side of the top of the key at the buzzer by Josh Alcoriza. CC leads overall 19-6.


Third Quarter

7:06–CC–timeout after good start by TCS including a layup underneath from right low block and a three point play for a 5-2 lead.

5:50–CC–three point play ties it at 5-5.

5:00–TCS–Lucas Page flips in reverse layup for a 7-5 lead.

2:43–CC–ties game and 7-7 with score.

1:38–TCS–fouled. Makes first FT. CC timeout. TCS makes 2nd FT for a 9-7 lead.

0:00–TCS wins quarter. CC had a couple chances to tie down the stretch, but weren’t able to score.
