GMC Hoops Highlights–March 7, 2012–Pau VI vs. St. Joseph’s–Non-Public A South Championship

Here are video highlights from the 2012 NJSIAA Non-Public A South Championship between top seeded and third ranked St. Joseph’s, and third seeded and 16th ranked Paul VI of Haddonfield. In a game that had eight lead changes and five ties, and neither team had a lead bigger than 8 points for the first 25:58, the Falcons went on a 15-0 run over a span of just under five minutes to turn a 37-33 deficit into a 48-37 lead en route to a 51-41 victory.

Karl Towns, who collected 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 blocks, sparked the run by hitting a three from the left wing as he was fouled for a rare four point play to tie the game at 37-37 with 5:53 left. Quenton DeCosey, who had 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks, put St. Joe’s ahead for good with one of two from the line at the 4:48 mark, and a jumper in the paint with 4:20 left. Danny Brix scored 10 points including 6 in the fourth quarter while Karim Awad also added 10 and Jimbo Long scored 6 in the win. James Madison bound Ron Curry helped lead Paul VI with 13 points.
