Metuchen @ Spotswood–December 14, 2007

SPOTSWOOD, NJ–Opening day at Spotswood welcomed the Bulldogs of Metuchen led by Oklahoma-bound Dejuan Miller. The game began with teams exchanging numerous fouls and showing their opening day jitters. Both teams were shooting in the bonus by the end of the first quarter. Metuchen ran out to an early 7-2 lead behind Miller’s break away dunk. The Chargers finally found their composure and closed the gap going into the locker room at half time down, 27-23.

The second half began as a mirror image of the first, with both teams playing sloppy and exchanging fouls. Metuchen began to stretch the game out and led by as many as 12, when Spotswood’s tandem of Ross Gerhart and Cody Pace responded and brought the game within seven points. Unfortunately, they were no answer for Metuchen’s trio of Miller (13), Preston (12) and Lewis (16) as the Bulldogs won, 67-50. Ross Gerhart finished with a team and game high 18 points followed closely behind by Cody Pace (16). With the win, Metuchen moves up to 1-0 overall and in the GMC Blue on the season, while Spotswood falls to 0-1.
