GMC Hoops To Cover 40th Game Of 2007-08 Tonight @ Colonia

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ–Not even a month into the brand new, 2007-08 GMC Boys Basketball Season, and GMC Hoops will be covering its 40th game. On Tuesday night in Colonia, the web site will cover a JV/Varsity Doubleheader between Sayreville and Colonia. The third installment of the JV Game of the Week between the Junior Bombers and Junior Patriots will serve as the 40th game while the varsity nightcap between the two schools is a key early season divisional showdown in the GMC White.

Over the holidays, the web site covered all or part of 19 different holiday tourney games including seven in one day on December 28th. Holiday tournaments covered games from 11 different tourneys including the following:

  • Gene Haley Memorial Tournament
  • Vaughn Stapleton Classic
  • John “Butch” Kowal Tournament
  • Brothers of the Sacred Heart Tournament
  • South Amboy Tournament
  • Buc Classic
  • Len Sepanak Tournament
  • Shello/Santy Tournament
  • Crusader Classic
  • NJTAC Holiday Tournament
  • Brearley Bear Tournament

As of the final day of holiday tournament coverage, the web site had covered 28 of the 29 teams in the Greater Middlesex Conference at least once. Through Monday night’s game between Edison and South Amboy, GMC Hoops had already seen eight teams more than once (Piscataway, J.P. Stevens, St. Joseph’s, Colonia, South Amboy, North Brunswick, Edison, and South River), and three teams thrice (Piscataway, J.P. Stevens, and St. Joseph’s). The only team the web site has not seen yet is Woodbridge, and the Barrons are on this week’s upcoming schedule with a game at home versus North Brunswick. See the complete breakdown of coverage in the GMC Hoops Trophy Standings page.

With the seven college games covered earlier in the season, the web site has now seen a total of 46 games for a grand total of 563 all time since the site went online in the summer of 2000. Here is the breakdown by season:

  • 2000-01–58 games
  • 2001-02–62 games
  • 2002-03–65 games
  • 2003-04–73 games
  • 2004-05–77 games
  • 2005-06–86 games
  • 2006-07–96 games

If the season schedule holds to form, I should be seeing my 600th game by around the Play-In round of this year’s GMC Tournament. We’ll see.
