Patriots Rally Past NUL 64-38

PERTH AMBOY, NJAmboy Tech trailed NUL 20-17 at the half. The Patriots managed only 2 2nd period points. Ibrahim Ahmed scored 6 second quarter points, for NUL, to outscore Amboy Tech by himself.

Anthony Patterson, on the bench most of the 1st half with foul trouble, erupted with 15 3rd period points. The Patriots charged out of the lockeroom outscoring NUL 23-10 to post a 40-30 lead after 3 periods. Patterson,a junior swingman, nailed 3 treys in the period enroute to a game high 27 points. He completed his sixth consecutive double-double game adding 12 boards, 3 blocks, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Junior Joey Castro led the surge with 6 assists 6 rebounds 3 steals 13 points and 2 charges. Kurt Grothusen, making his first start of the season, scored 6 points grabbed 10 rebounds and 2 steals. Grothusen brought a lot of energy to the defense.

Soph guard Anthony Vidal scored 12 points, including three 2nd half treys, and a team leading 6 steals. Ruben Plata and Wilson Lopez combined for 12 rebounds off the bench. With the victory, Perth Amboy Tech has now won five of their last seven games, improved to 6-4 overall, and 2-1 against non-conference opponents.
