New Egypt Defeats Perth Amboy Tech 47-42, Qualifies for State Tourney

NEW EGYPT, NJ–In a game with tournament intensity and defense, the Warrior size proved to be the difference in the game. Led by 6’7″ Kevin Janowski and 6’8″ Freshman Desmond Hubert, New Egypt pulled ahead in the 4th period. Janowski scored 9 of his game high 15 points in the 4th. Hubert scored 10 points and blocked 6 shots.

Anthony Patterson led the Patriots with 14 points and 10 rebounds while fouling out on a questionable charge call to start the fourth quarter. The Patriots were already without the services of Captain Joey Castro, out do to injury.

Alex Sanz and Anthony Vidal combined for all but two of Amboy Tech’s 4th period points. Sanz finished with 13 points 3 assists 3 steals and 4 deflections. Vidal tallied 7 points with 3 steals and 4 deflections while applying defensive pressure all game against New Egypt ball handlers.

Anthony Rodriguez and Ruben Plata battled the taller opponents and combined for 10 rebounds. Rodriguez scored 6 points and had 2 blocks. With the loss, Perth Amboy Tech drops to 11-7 overall including a 6-2 mark against non-conference teams.
