College Hoops–Division III PAC Getting A Name Change

ASTON, PA–The Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, which is home to such schools as Cabrini, Centenary, and Misericordia, announced on May 1st that it will change the name of the conference effective July 1, 2008. At that time, the PAC will be called the Middle States Athletic Conference. The renaming of the conference was done to acknowledge the presence of such schools as Centenary, which are located outside the Keystone State of Pennsylvania.

The PAC currently has 13 teams in its conference. Of those 13 squads, there are three from outside of Pennsylvania including Centenary, Notre Dame of Maryland, and Shenandoah of Virginia. The conference covers four different states including Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia. This past season, GMC Hoops covered two of the member schools in action as Centenary defeated Berkeley College on November 27, 2007, and Misericordia soundly defeated FDU-Florham several days earlier on November 24th. Several former players in the GMC play in the conference including Lamar Fisher of St. Joseph’s, who plays at Sayreville, and Larry Lenahan of South Amboy, who will be attending Centenary in the fall.
