2008 Linden Summer League Schedule Set

LINDEN, NJ–On Thursday, GMC Hoops learned from Linden High School assistant boys basketball coach, Marty Luc, that the 2008 Linden Summer League is set to start on June 23rd, and will run through July until the final week of the month. As always, there will be two divisions made up of a number of teams: Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday. Like last year, there are eight teams in each division.

As it has been for the past couple of years, there are three teams from the GMC competing in the league: Cardinal McCarrick, Colonia, and East Brunswick. Playing in the Monday/Wednesday division are: Linden, Rahway, Marist, Newark Academy, Wagner (Staten Island), Colonia, Watchung Hills, and Hillsborough. Meanwhile, in the Tuesday/Thursday division, the teams are as follows: Linden, Seton Hall Prep, Paterson Kennedy, St. Patrick’s, East Brunswick, Immaculata, Bridgewater-Raritan, and Cardinal McCarrick. St. Patrick’s is the most notable addition to the league over last season while teams such as Wagner are returning to the league after a year absence.

Games will begin the week of June 23rd with each division having two games that week. Then, the following week, June 30th to July 3rd will be the Referee Camp, which will provide an opportunity for teams to play crossover games against squads in the other division. All in all, there will be six regular season games played plus whatever comes out of the Referee Camp. Playoffs will begin the week of July 21st.
