P-Way’s Adkins Playing Hoops At Division II New Haven

NEW HAVEN, CT–The list of former GMC standouts playing in the Northeast 10 conference has gotten a little bigger. Piscataway’s Jeff Adkins is the latest former player from the Greater Middlesex Conference to play in the Division II league. On the roster as a freshman at the University of New Haven, Adkins has played in all six games so far, averaged nearly 13 minutes per game, 2.2 points per game, 1.2 rebounds per game, 1.2 assists per game, and 0.8 steals per game.

A Business Management major at the school, Adkins has made 50 percent of his shots from the floor, and 75 percent of his attempts from the foul line. The majority of his stats came in two games. In a 75-71 loss at Assumption on November 23rd, Adkins made 2 of 3 shots for 4 points along with 3 assists, 3 steals, and a rebound in 14 minutes. Then, in an 81-69 loss to St. Rose on December 1st, Adkins was 2 of 3 from the floor and 2 of 2 from the foul line for a season high to date of 6 points along with 2 assists and 2 rebounds in 14 minutes of play.

So far this season, the Chargers have struggled with a 1-5 record including five straight losses after defeating Mercy College (76-56) in its opener on November 13th. New Haven is 0-4 in conference play. Last season, UNH was 5-22 overall including a 5-17 mark in the Northeast 10. In 2008-09, the Chargers were 8-19 including a 6-16 mark in league. Adkins is the latest in a recent line of former GMC players to have played in the Northeast 10.

The list includes: Nick Smith of Colonia (Stonehill), A.J. Rudowitz of Monroe (Stonehill), Jermaine Clark of Perth Amboy (St. Rose), Vince Rosario of Cardinal McCarrick (Stonehill), Darrell Carroll of St. Joseph’s (Stonehill), Tristan Benjamin of Piscataway (Pace), and James White of Piscataway (Southern Connecticut). Several of these players have moved on to other schools including Rosario (Central Connecticut), Carroll (Catholic University), and Benjamin (Harcum).
