McCarrick’s Snider Brothers Contributing At Rivier

NASHUA, NH–Recently, GMC Hoops traveled up to Muhlenberg College to see former Cardinal McCarrick standout, Craig Thomas in action at the Scotty Wood Tournament. There are other former McCarrick players that are playing college hoops as well including the brothers Will and Taylor Snider. The Rivier Raiders, which compete in the Great Northeast Atlantic Conference, are 2-1 after three games.

In those three games, Will Snider, a junior at the school, has done fairly well. He is averaging a little over 20 minutes per game, 4.7 points per contest, and 4.7 assists per game. His assist to turnover ratio is nearly 2 to 1 while he’s also collected 2.7 rebounds per game. The elder Snider has netted 7 of 9 from the foul line for 78 percent. Meanwhile, Taylor Snider has played in only one game with 2 points and 2 rebounds in 4 minutes. Last season, Rivier was 9-17 including a 6-12 mark in conference play. Two seasons ago, Rivier was 16-13 including a 9-9 mark in conference.

In a November 20th game against Colby-Sawyer, Will Snider played 32 minutes, and scored 7 points including 5 of 6 from the foul line while also handing out 7 assists. The junior point guard also collected 4 rebounds and a steal in a 75-63 victory. In the last two games of the 2009-10 season, the elder Snider picked up 5 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal in 33 minutes of play against Lasell on February 20th, and 7 points, 3 assists, and a rebound in 31 minutes of play against Albertus Magnus on February 23rd.

At McCarrick, Will Snider was the point guard on the school’s last GMCT Championship team in 2007-08 when it defeated St. Joseph’s in the final. The Eagles were a school best 24-5 that season including a 17 game winning streak, and won a share of the GMC Blue Division title with Bishop Ahr. Taylor Snider was on the McCarrick team that reached the GMCT Final Four and the Non-Public B South Championship Game in 2008-09.
