McCarrick Fights To The End In Loss To Bishop Ahr

Eagles Trailed By 12 Late, But Never Give Up In Six Point Loss To Trojans

SOUTH AMBOY–Many just look at sports in terms of winning and losing. However, games played on the professional, college, or high school levels have important lessons that transcend the daily lives we live. Sports often mirrors society, good or bad. It provides character through players that come to practice every day, but never get a chance to play in the actual game. It also teaches us never to give up.

The last point has been shown time and time again. The Buffalo Bills of the early 1990s gave us a couple examples of this. First, during the 1992 season, when it rallied from a 32 point deficit to defeat the Houston Oilers in a Wild Card Playoff Game, and then later on in that year’s Super Bowl when Don Beebe chased down Leon Lett, and prevented a meaningless touchdown in the Cowboys rout to their first Super Bowl title in 15 years. Cardinal McCarrick did the same thing on Saturday night against Bishop Ahr.

The Eagles, which came in on a nine game winning streak after losing their season opener on the road at Woodbridge, trailed Bishop Ahr throughout the second half. They did get within two points on several occasions in the third quarter, but couldn’t tie or take the lead. However, second ranked McCarrick didn’t give up. They played until the final buzzer sounded even after they trailed by as many as a dozen late in the fourth, and had two of their top players (Ahmid Williams and Jumanne McDaniel) foul out. It says a lot about the type of team Cardy Mac has. The Eagles have plenty of talent and depth along with experience. However, in defeat, they may have shown a tremendous trait by not giving up.

The second ranked Eagles are definitely going to be a team to reckon with as we get into February and March. They are a team with a lot of heart, and when combined with the talent that they possess, great things can happen. Let’s not sell Ahr short though. The Trojans, which had struggled to beat McCarrick for a long time, defeated the Eagles for the third time in the last four years including the second year in a row. BGA also has a lot of talent and depth, and this season, the Trojans have played a very tough schedule with wins of Colonia and McCarrick to show for it.

Ahr has a ton of athletic ability and size with the likes of Roger and Rashad Kilgore along with Pat Widdoss, Kenny Virden, Ryan Blakely, and North Brunswick transfer Dillon Salva. The Trojans have rebounded nicely since losing to Carteret two weeks ago (68-60). Bishop Ahr defeated two top ten teams last week in J.F. Kennedy of Iselin and McCarrick.
