GMC Hoops To Open 2011-12 With Freshmen, JV, And Varsity Tripleheader At Cardinal McCarrick

Site Renews Recent Annual Tradition Of Having Freshmen-JV-Varsity Tripleheader

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ–Opening night of the 2011-12 Season is Friday night, and GMC Hoops will be at Cardinal McCarrick in South Amboy to see the fifth ranked Eagles host the 10th ranked Woodbridge Barrons in a GMC White Clash. Last year, Woodbridge knocked off McCarrick in the season opener.

Both teams are expected to contend for the GMC White Division crown. The Eagles won the Non-Public B South sectional championship, reached the GMCT Final Four, and finished second in the GMC White in 2010-11. Meanwhile, Woodbridge qualified for the North Jersey Section 2 Group IV state playoffs.

The Barrons are led by FDU bound Kyle Pearson, and highly touted senior Keith Hughes while McCarrick is led by sophomore Marques Townes and seniors Jumanne McDaniel and Mohammed Alli. For the season opener, GMC Hoops is planning to cover the Freshmen and JV games renewing a recent traditional of covering all three high school levels in the season opener. The site is also going to try and renew the GMC Hoops Freshmen Game of the Week and JV Game of the Week this year.
