MIDDLETOWN, NJ–State Tourney play continued on Thursday with the quarterfinal round of the Central Jersey Group IV state tournament taking place at Middletown North High School between the third seeded Lions from the Shore Conference, and the 11th seeded Monroe Falcons.
MTHS advanced to the quarterfinal round by defeating sixth seeded West Windsor-Plainsboro South in the opening round (72-64), but the Falcons season came to an end as Jason Huelbig scored 22 points including eight in the fourth quarter to lead the Lions to a 59-51 victory. Middletown North, which is now 23-5 on the season, the most wins in school history, will now face Jackson Memorial in the semis on Saturday. Below is the play-by-play from the contest.
