GMC Hoops Game Notes–Warren Hills vs. Edison–Gene Haley Tourney Championship–Edison High School–December 28, 2012

EDISON, NJ–In the Championshp Game of the 2012 Gene Haley Tournament, the Streaks of Warren Hills and the Skyland Conference took on the hometown Edison Eagles. EHS jumped out to a 18-10 first half lead, but the Streaks, coming off a 54-47 win over J.F. Kennedy in the opening round, rallied back with a 15-7 run over the next 11:29 to take a 31-25 lead with less than 6 minutes to go.

Edison rallied back with 7 unanswered points sparked by a steal for a layup by Marcus Cudjoe, and then capped by a Qassim-Bass Ali layup for a 32-31 lead. However, the Warren County school finished the game with 6 of the last 8 points including a steal for a dunk with 1:25 left to come away with the title, 37-34. Pre-Game Notes

Game at Frank N. Cangelosi Gymnasium–the Eagle’s Nest. Warren Hills enters the game at 2-2 after defeating J.F. Kennedy by the score of 54-47 in the opening round of the Haley Tournament.  Edison advanced to the final by defeating Mater Dei in the opening round, 62-45.  Eagles come into the contest at 3-2.  Dennis Amuzu, who scored 11 points in the win over the Seraphs, is getting the start
