So, now, we have five games on Friday night, five games on Saturday afternoon and evening, and another two on Sunday afternoon. GMC Gridiron is just posting the picks for the two original games scheduled on Saturday. For the other games that were postponed on Thursday, please check out those picks here.

  • Carteret at St. Joseph’s–The Ramblers are coming off their first Central Jersey Group II sectional title since the 2007 season, and its first unbeaten and untied season since 1992, but they lost a lot to graduation. They still have some players back including basketball standout Brandon Gilder. St. Joseph’s has a new head coach in former Immaculata assistant Casey Ransone, and still have Matt Olivo, who turned in 2,000 all purpose yards last year. The Falcons are playing at home, and have a shot to pull off the upset.Prediction:  St. Joseph’s wins, 21-20.
  • Spotswood at Middlesex–The Chargers open the season on the road at Middlesex with a veteran squad returning from last season including RB Jack Darymple, QB C.J. O’Connor, and the entire offensive line. Spotswood did lose wideout and hoops standout, Corey Brown from last season. Meanwhile, Middlesex has a young and inexperienced squad, but they are very talented.  Prediction:    Spotswood wins, 31-16.

GMC Gridiron plans to be at North Brunswick on Saturday night to see the Raiders host Monroe in a Red Division clash that was rescheduled due to the inclement weather on Thursday.
