Piscataway Falls To Newark Central In Semis; Central Defeats St. Mary’s for Championship

UNION, NJ–On Monday night, GMC Hoops returned again to Harwood Arena to take in the last two rounds of playoff action in the 2014 Kean University Spring League. Only one team from the GMC was in action as Piscataway took on top seeded Newark Central. The Chiefs jumped out to a 4-2 lead, and didn’t allow Central to get its first field goal until about the 14 minute mark of the first half, but then the Blue Devils turned up the heat with full court pressure, and scored 17 of the next 20 points as P-Way went without a field goal for over 10 minutes. Piscataway was unable to recover from that as Central went on to win by 20. The Blue Devils followed up their win in the semis over P-Way with a 20 point victory in the Championship over St. Mary’s of Elizabeth, which defeated Newark Arts in the other semi. Below are all the semifinal and championship game scores.
