Jordan Lackey to Play College Hoops at Franklin Pierce

Piscataway Tech Standout to Join Solid Ravens Squad from Northeast-10 Conference

RAHWAY, NJ–On Tuesday night at the Rahway Summer League, GMC Hoops learned that recent Piscataway Tech graduate, Jordan Lackey will be playing college hoops at NCAA Division II Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, New Hampshire.  The South Plainfield native, played three years of varsity basketball at P-Way Tech including two seasons in the Blue Division.  This past season, the Raiders finished 8-16 overall including a 8-12 mark in the GMC, and a 6-10 record in the GMC Blue.

Lackey first came on the high school hoops scene in Middlesex County when he played freshman hoops at South Plainfield in the 2010-11 season.  During that season, he helped lead a Little Tigers squad coached by current athletic director, Al Czech, to the Championship Game of the 2011 Perth Amboy Freshmen Tournament.  Second seeded South Plainfield, which also had the likes of Chris Mathis, Malik Cisson, and Roemello Monroe, ended up losing to top seeded St. Joseph’s-Green (54-41).  The following summer, Lackey transferred to Piscataway Tech, and came off the bench as a sophomore to help the Raiders win their second straight GMC Gold Division title.

The following season, P-Way Tech made the jump up to the bigger school Blue Division in 2012-13 and competed well with an 18-9 overall record, and a third place finish behind Carteret and Spotswood with a 12-4 division record along with a 14-6 mark in conference.  During Lackey’s three seasons at Piscataway Tech, the Raiders were 41-35 overall, 36-22 in conference play, and 31-15 in divisional play.  At the end of this past season, Lackey was selected to play in the 2014 GMCBCA Senior All-Star Game, where he shined with three monster dunks for all six of his points to lead the White Team past the Black Team, 107-94.  During the 2013-14 season, Lackey played in all 24 games for P-Way Tech and averaged 16.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game.

Lackey scored 392 points on 123 field goals, 11 three pointers, and 113 free throws this past season.  Over his three year career at Piscataway Tech, Lackey played in 66 games, connected on 250 field goals, 37 three pointers, and 189 foul shots for 797 total points.  He averaged 12.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game during that span.  Lackey will provide good company to a Franklin Pierce squad that is coming off a 21-8 campaign in 2013-14 including a 15-6 record in the Northeast-10 Conference.  The Ravens knocked off fifth seeded and CACC Conference Tournament champion, Philadelphia University in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Tournament (66-65) before losing to conference rival, Southern Connecticut in the second round.  The previous year, Franklin Pierce won the NCAA Division II East Regional.
