Here are highlights from the action in a JV contest at the first annual Brunswick-Windsor Classic between East Brunswick and West Windsor-Plainsboro South at South Brunswick High School. The Junior Bears had jumped out to a 16-10 lead late in the first half after Tom Pappas netted one of two from the foul line. West Windsor-Plainsboro South responded by converting a rare four point play with 33 seconds remaining in the first half to pull within two at 16-14 at the break.
EB clinged to a tenuous three point, 22-19 lead midway through the third quarter when it put together a 6-2 run including two free throws by Ryan Crocco, and steals for layups by Mike Brizuela and Pappas before WWPS netted two free throws for a 28-23 EB lead heading into the fourth. West Windsor-Plainsboro South stayed within striking distance, trailing by five for much of the fourth quarter until the final 1:13 of the game when EB finished up with a 12-6 spurt that included two breakaway scores by Crocco, a layup by Pappas, a bucket by Levitt, and 4 of 4 from the foul line by Brizuela to seal the 43-32 victory.
