GMC Hoops Game Notes–Wardlaw-Hartridge @ Timothy Christian–Gold Division Clash–January 23, 2015

PISCATAWAY, NJ–Later on Friday evening, GMC Hoops capped off its Blue and Gold Division Doubleheader with a trip over to Timothy Christian to watch the last 10 minutes of action in the Tigers Gold Division Clash against Wardlaw-Hartridge. The Rams surpassed their win total for all of last season by virtue of a 65-36 decision over TCS. Wardlaw broke away from a 31-19 halftime lead with an 18-3 outburst in the third quarter for a 49-22 lead, and then outscored Timothy Christian by a 16-14 margin in the fourth to round out the victory. Mike Newman scored a team high 21 points while Nick Palko chipped in with 19 for Wardlaw. Josh Decker led all scorers with a game high 23 points including five three pointers in defeat for TCS. Decker scored 16 of the Tigers last 17 points including 13 in the fourth quarter as he hit three treys while also making a pull-up jumper and a layup in the frame. First Quarter

Wardlaw jumps out to a 15-7 lead.


Second Quarter

Wardlaw increases its lead to a dozen at 31-19 going into the intermission on the strength of a 16-12 showing in the second.

Third Quarter

2:30–Arrive with Wardlaw leading 46-22.

0:00–Wardlaw gets a three pointer before the end of the third for a 49-22 lead. Rams broke open the game with an 18-3 showing in the stanza.
Decker got the only points of the third for TCS.


Fourth Quarter

6:00–Wardlaw opens fourth with the first 6 points including two fts by Nick Palko at the 7:48 mark for a 55-22 lead. Will Clemons fouled out for TCS.

4:43 remaining and Wardlaw calls timeout with a 58-28 lead after TCS’ Josh Decker hit two threes and Luke Romeo fired in a trey for Wardlaw.

2:53 left and TCS calls a timeout after Josh Decker hits another three for a 62-31 Wardlaw lead.

0:00–Game has just ended with Wardlaw defeating Timothy Christian 65-36. TCS ended the game on a 5-3 run including a pull-up jumper and left handed layup by Decker and 1 of 2 fts by Mark Harris. Decker scored 13 of his game high 23 points in the fourth period.
