GMC Hoops Game Notes–Piscataway @ St. Joseph’s–Red Division Clash–January 28, 2015

METUCHEN, NJ–In the nightcap of our Piscataway doubleheader on Wednesday night, GMC Hoops traveled over to St. Joseph’s to see the second ranked Falcons host PWay. Joes jumped out to a 14-3 first quarter lead and eventually led by as many as 29 points in the second half en route to a 64-36 victory. Marcus Ashamole collected a double-double of 15 points and 15 boards while Branislav Vujadinovic and Breein Tyree both added 15 points. Tyree also collected 8 assists, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals. Donzell Cunnigham led Piscataway in defeat with 11 points while D’Ondre Dent chipped in with 10.

First Quarter

0:00–St. Joseph’s jumps out to a 14-3 lead as the Falcons. Branislav Vujadinovic led the way with 5 points while Marcus Ashamole chipped in with 4 points. Mikey Granda added a three and Breein Tyree contributed with a bucket. D’Ondre Dent scored all 3 points for Piscataway.


Second Quarter

0:00–Arrive. St. Joseph’s leads 31-13 at the half. Joes outscores PWay by a 17-10 margin in the second. Marcus Ashamole scores 7 points while Branislav Vujadinovic adds 5 and Breein Tyree chipped in with 3. Piscataway first half scoring: Donzell Cunnigham leads the Chiefs with 6 points all in the second quarter. St. Joseph’s first half scoring: Ashamole and Vujadinovic both lead the Falcons with 11 and 10 points respectively.


Third Quarter

3:55 left in the third and St. Joseph’s leads 43-21 thanks in part to this three by Bree Tyree. Joes starts half on a 12-8 run. Mikey Granda had a layup and a jumper while Branislav Vujadinovic added a three.

0:00–End of third and St. Joe’s leads 54-30 after this jumper at the buzzer by Breein Tyree. Joes ends quarter on an 11-9 run.


Fourth Quarter

6:53 left in the game and Joes calls timeout with a 56-32 lead. Both teams exchange scores to open scoring.

3:00–Breein Tyree just missed throwing down a tremendous dunk in traffic. Bryce Layne connected on a baseline jumper from the left side for a 61-32 lead.

2:00–Reserves now in for St. Joe’s.

0:00–Game just ended with Joes defeating PWay 64-36. Xavier Townes helped round out the victory with a layup off a drive from the right side.
