Friends of South Amboy Running Benefit Hoops Event on December 19th

Three Games to be Played at South Amboy HS on Opening Weekend

SOUTH AMBOY, NJ–On Wednesday, GMC Hoops received information from Tom Reilly that the Friends of South Amboy will be running their fourth annual Hoops Benefit at South Amboy High School. For the first time though, the main event will not feature a boys hoops match-up between crosstown rivals, Cardinal McCarrick and South Amboy HS. Back in May, it was announced that Cardinal McCarrick would close at the end of the 2014-15 school year. Nevertheless, and to the credit of Friends of South Amboy, the event will continue on with three games including two varsity boys match-ups involving three teams from the GMC: Perth Amboy Tech, Sayreville, and South Amboy as well as Mater Dei, which is now coached by former McCarrick boys coach, Ben Gamble, and features a number of players from last year’s Cardy Mac team including Gilberto Cue, NyQuan McCombs, Elijah Mitchell, and Bryan Harris. Below is the schedule of games for December 19th:

Friends of South Amboy Hoops Benefit–December 19, 2015–Schedule

  • South Amboy vs. Koinonia Academy, 4:00 PM (Girls)
  • Mater Dei vs. Perth Amboy Vo-Tech, 6:00 PM (Boys)
  • South Amboy vs. Sayreville, 8:00 PM (Boys)

GMC Hoops plans to cover at least one of the games from this event. More details on this event will be coming as we approach the day of the games.
