MONROE, NJ–In one of the two 9:05 PM games on Thursday night at the 2015 MSC Fall League, South River took on Freehold Township on the Red Court. The Rams, led by Antonio Martinez, got off to a tremendous start after yielding the game’s first points. South River scored 16 of the next 18 points for a 16-4 lead, and eventually led 28-11 with about 3 minutes left in the first half when the tide began to turn. Freehold Township scored 5 of the last 7 points of the opening stanza, and then outscored the Rams by a 35-15 margin in the second half to come away with the 51-45 victory. First Half
17:02–SR–jumps out to a 7-4 lead after scoring 7 of last 9 points including a floater by Antonio Martinez.
14:41–FT–timeout after SR layup for a 9-4 lead.
11:09–SR–calls timeout with a 13-4 lead after two scores including a putback off Martinez miss for a 13-4 lead.
10:02–FT–turnover. SR leads 16-6 after a nice kick out by Marinez led to a three for the Rams.
1:00–FT–fouled and makes both FTs for a 28-14 SR lead. Ends a 12-6 SR run.
0:00–Both teams fail to score in final seconds, but get baskets in the final minute for a 30-16 SR lead.
Second Half
16:02–FT–hits three from right wing to cap an 11-7 start for a 37-27 SR lead.
14:05–FT–hits three from right corner for a 37-30 SR lead.
11:42–SR–timeout after a 6-4 run for a 43-34 lead.
7:39–FT–5-0 run to close gap to 43-39.
2:00–FT–goes on a 9-2 run to take a 48-45 lead.
13.7–FT–fouled and makes both ends of bonus for a 51-45 lead.
8.1–FT–fouled misses front end of bonus.
0.0–SR–unable to score as time ran out with FT winning 51-45. FT out scored SR 35-15 in second half and 40-17 over the last 23 minutes of the contest.
