Red Devils Roll Behind Solid Effort by Mahoney, 60-33
PISCATAWAY, NJ–On Thursday afternoon, GMC Hoops traveled to nearby Piscataway High School to see the Chiefs in action in a scrimmage against Ridge, runners-up in North Jersey Section 2 Group 4 the past two seasons. The Chiefs played competitively at times, and actually drew to within 14-10 at the beginning of the second quarter after trailing 10-2 early on in the first, but the Red Devils, led by senior big man, Max Mahoney, who scored 11 of his team’s 13 points in the third alone, and had two dunks in the scrimmage, pulled away with a 46-23 showing the rest of the way for the 60-33 edge in the exhibition. First Quarter
3:06–RID–opens scrimmage with a 10-2 spurt including a two handed dunk and putback by Max Mahoney.
1:12–PWAY–on a 4-2 run thanks to a jumper from the left side and another from the left wing to close the gap to 12-7.

4:26–RID–Reserves in for both teams. Devils off to 8-4 start in quarter for a 21-12 lead. PWAY fouled and makes 1 of 2 FTs for a 21-13 RID lead.
4:13–RID–fouled and makes 1 of 2 FTs for a 22-13 lead.
0:00–RID–ends frame on a 10-3 spurt including a layup from the right low block in the closing seconds for a 19-8 edge in the frame for a 32-16 edge in the 2nd half and a 60-33 overall edge.
